[DFAT 2013] Mam Bebs

Our DFAT 1st Day, First stop was at Mam Bebs (formerly La Suerte Bakery). It is not just a bakery, they also serve food for lunch. We had light lunch at the same time meet up with DFAT 2013 Participants. I ordered Palabok and Pork Binagoongan meal for lunch. I shared my meal with blogger friends so as they can also taste the Pork Binagoongan. The meal comes with rice and noodle soup (mami) . I just couldn’t miss ordering the Palabok. For dessert, I was sharing a slice of chocolate cake with blogger friends. After a few minutes of looking around the store, I suddenly remember that I also wanted to order their Batchoy (noodle soup) and was asking friends if they want to share with me. But since everyone had ordered, well I just thought of visiting Mam Bebs again soon. But surprisingly, the pork binagoongan meal had a small bowl of noodle soup. It had somehow satisfy my noodle soup craving that day.

Here is what I had for lunch:

[Events] Greenwich Bloggers Blowout

Last Friday, June 14, 2013 Greenwich hosted a Bloggers blow-out to launch their latest pizzas. It was a night of food, raffle and fun. Greenwich launched their 2 new Pizzas & Lasagna Supreme. The two new pizzas are the Ultimate Filipino’s fave pizza the Ultimate Hawaiian Pizza & Ultimate Special Overload. Its our last stop on our first day of the DFAT (Davao Food Appreciation Tour). Whenever I thnink of having a house party or dining out with friends, I would think of having pizza, pasta n chicken. I always love the combination of pasta, pizza & chicken, its a simple yet complete meal for me.

Everyone really cant get enough of the Ultimate Hawaiian Overload, another Greenwich offering to make pizza lovers crave for more. With the Hawaiian Overload which has two kinds of cheese — Mozzarella and Cheddar, glazed pineapples, and two types of meat– ham & bacon. Crisp on the outside yet soft and chewy on the inside crust that is freshly made everyday in all Greenwich stores. The pizza innovations from Greenwich definitely satisfies Filipinos craving for an overload of Hawaiian pizza goodness. One can savor the blend of the juicy and sweet taste of glazed pineapples, and other delightful toppings of the Ultimate Hawaiian Overload.
Ultimate Hawaiian Overload

The Ultimate Special Overload has been a personal favorite of mine whenever we would order pizza on Greenwich. “It tops the list of Greenwich pizzas”, says Lulu De Castro, Greenwich Senior Marketing Manager. It has practically everything a pizza any pizza lover can ask for.” It takes one to an all-new gastronomic journey. It prides itself as the most loaded pizza in the market today, giving pizza lovers the ultimate fix that spells richness down to the last bite. It has 13 mouth-watering toppings loaded to perfection. The experience begins with slices of beef, bacon, pepperoni and salami, with sprinkles of veggies which also includes mushroom, olives, red and green bell pepper, onion and minced garlic. Filling and priced reasonably, its the ideal centerpiece in fun barkada gatherings.

Lastly, the Greenwich Lasagna Supreme is now loaded with even more mouth-watering goodness. One can hardly wait to dig in and savor this pasta perfection. This best-selling pasta now with thicker noodles, chunkier meat sauce complemented by three types of cheese and topped with rich and creamy white sauce. Served with a piece of Garlic Stix. Its one of my favorite lasagna resto,

[Food Tasting] Tea’Amo Bistro

Just this Monday May 20, 2013, Tea’Amo has just re-opened not just as a Milk Tea place but now a Bistro. They have undergone renovations due to its too cute and too girly place, they had decided to repaint their place into a neutral color to fit not just female customers but also the males who are visiting the place. I have been to the opening of Tea’Amo Soiree last year. I could still remember how girly and really nice the place was. Now, the place is in neutral colors, at least it would fit both the male n female market. They invited us bloggers to have a taste of whats new on their Menu.

008

005

According to the sisters April & Chiara, what’s on their menu are comfort foods, which they loved.

Here are the food we had that night:
002

Mamita’s Chicken Parmigiana @ P165  (Must Try!) – Breaded Chicken breast topped with tomato sauce, parmesan cheese & mozzarella.

(can be served either with Java Rice or Plain Rice). The chicken parmigiana is really good, reminds me of eating pizza since it has tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese.

004

Caldereta Bordeaux @ P185 – Slow-cooked beef bathed in special sauce with a hint of wine topped with cheese. The beef is tender and the sauce is flavorful.
009

Adobo Festival @ P165 – A classic homegrown recipe by the owner.

012
Spicy Pork Cracklings (Must Try! ) @ P155 – Pork slices fried until its crunchy, served spicy with tangy sauce on the side. You may find it guilty to try this, but its something u can’t resist trying out.
021

Curry Tilapia w/ Mango Cilantro Salsa @ P155 – Fried Snapper/ Tilapia infused in a uniwure marriage of Middle Eastern & Asian Flavors. For the health-concious. Its a good meal composed of fish and fruits.

018

Creamy Chicken @ P155-(Must Try! ) Tender cooked chicken with a veil of cream, topped with fried kangkong leaves. I love the creaminess of the chicken, its perfectly paired with the fried Kangkong.

016

Coconut & Pesto Braised Pork @ P165 – Slow braised pork blanketed in a mixture of coconut cream and pesto sauce.

014

Home Sweet Ribs @ P175 – Soft ribs with corn & carrots.

024

The taste test ended with desserts of Oreo Crinkles and Oatmeal bars & a cup of Cranberry Yogurt with Pearl Sinkers.  Together with Davao Bloggers, we really had a great time dining at Tea’Amo.

[Event] Davao Bloggers Acquaintance Party 2013

Its been a year since I became a member of Davao Bloggers Society. I had joined the Davao Bloggers group last year and met new friends, attended events and meet different personalities from Davao and from around the Philippines. At first, I was hesitant to join, since being a newbie in the blogging world means lots of adjustments. But luckily, upon joining the group, I was somehow at home being with the group. Aside from attending events, at times we get to hang-out together with bloggers to develop friendship with them. Since we all share the love for food, watching movies and hanging-out.

I won 2 tickets to Maxima Aquafun during the twitter raffle.

[Food Trip] Ah Phets Noodle House & Rice Topping

Last month when I went to Cebu to attend a baptismal. Went around Cebu for some food trip with my friends, was curious about this new resto that serves good noodles and rice meals. Since our flight was delayed from Davao to Cebu, we had a late lunch at Ah Phets Noodle House, located at the Green Orkid Commercial Complex on Escario Street Cebu City.  Upon arriving from the airport we directly went there as me, my sis and my friends where all hungry then.

 photo 004-3_zpscb8f05d0.jpg
Here are what we had during our late lunch :

 photo 006-4_zpse2208726.jpg

Beef Brisket Noodles (Regular) @ P95

The beef was tender and the noodles was just light, the broth is not too salty. Its my kind of beef brisket noodle.

 photo 014-4_zps65435048.jpg

Tender Ribs Chinese Style @ P180 (Must Try!)

The ribs was marinated well, in every bite you would love the taste of sweet and salty. though a plate is not enough for a group.

 photo 016-1_zps74f43b96.jpg

Fried Spring Chicken (half) w/ rice @ P99 (Must Try!)

I am such a chicken lover, whenever I go visit a new resto, I always make sure to taste their chicken, whether it be fried, or soy chicken or even steam chicken. This Fried Spring chicken is good, with the right spices, reminds me of the spring chicken I usually get to have whenever we visit Ongpin.

 photo 020-6_zpsc827ef6a.jpg

Ma-Ki Regular @ P85

This ma-ki mi is good, same with the ma-ki mi I get to have whenever I visit Ice Castle in Cebu. Ma-ki is a chinese style soup from pork broth in a sticky soup. Its also good if mixed with egg noodles.

 photo 007-8_zpse7c49531.jpg

Wanton Noodle Soup Regular @ P95 … The Wanton Noodle Soup was good,  🙂

As we were dining, I had a quick interview with the owner. She shared that this new resto has just opened a few months ago. They are also the same owner who owns Ice Castle, the popular Halo-halo place in Cebu. With its delicious food and affordable prices, I would recommend everyone to give this resto a try.

[Food] Sweet Spot Ice Cream

Davao has been a favorite tourist destination not just by the locals but also of foreigners. There have been lots of places to visit, from the beach to nature parks. One of the popular tourist destinations, especially of families aside from the Malls are the parks, among them is Crocodile Park. Aside from the huge crocodiles you see, they also have other different activities that you can enjoy. After a long day, they would like to sit and enjoy a scoop of ice cream from Sweet Spot ice cream.

Sweet Spot Artisan ice creams are made from crocodile eggs instead of chicken eggs as the main ingredients. What makes crocodile ice cream yummy  in everyone’s palate are crocodile eggs, which comprises of 80% yolk! A gallon of crocodile ice cream contains at least a dozen of Crocodile eggs. Their ice creams are mainly made of milk, Crocodile Eggs and fruits that are freshly sourced from the Dizon Farms.

Here are some of the flavors that we got to taste during an ice cream tasting we had recently:

From Left to right (Yellow-Mango, Coffee w/ choco chips, Pink-dragon fruit, Cookies & Cream, Durian)

The Artisan Ice creams are available in exciting flavors. Each has its unique taste that would satisfy our summer  cold cravings. Among the flavors I had, the ever popular Durian Ice Cream really got attention, the creaminess of the ice cream is also a plus factor to it.  Aside from the durian, I also like the unique taste of dragon fruit ice cream and the coffee w/ choco chip ice cream. Each serving cost at around P70 per scoop.

 photo 021-1_zpsfdb637e1.jpg

Sweet Spot Artisan Ice Cream is the only producer of crocodile ice cream around this side of the world. It started out as an experiment, as to produce something extraordinary, since Crocodile Parks is their sister company. The ice cream was further developed by owner & chef Bianca Dizon.

 photo Crocodileicecream_zpseaeb95a8.jpg

The first batch of crocodile ice cream was made last 2011; word of mouth caused the ice cream to gain favorable response from ice cream lovers and adventurous foodies alike. Today, Sweet Spot Artisan Ice Cream has a  growing market of  followers with locals and tourists ordering crocodile ice cream by the tub. The brand also packs surprises every season with lots of flavors.  The next time you visit Davao Crocodile Park, don’t forget to drop by Sweet Spot Artistan Ice Cream, truly a Davaono’s Pride.

Get your Sweet Spot fix this summer!
