[DFAT 2013] Mam Bebs

Our DFAT 1st Day, First stop was at Mam Bebs (formerly La Suerte Bakery). It is not just a bakery, they also serve food for lunch. We had light lunch at the same time meet up with DFAT 2013 Participants. I ordered Palabok and Pork Binagoongan meal for lunch. I shared my meal with blogger friends so as they can also taste the Pork Binagoongan. The meal comes with rice and noodle soup (mami) . I just couldn’t miss ordering the Palabok. For dessert, I was sharing a slice of chocolate cake with blogger friends. After a few minutes of looking around the store, I suddenly remember that I also wanted to order their Batchoy (noodle soup) and was asking friends if they want to share with me. But since everyone had ordered, well I just thought of visiting Mam Bebs again soon. But surprisingly, the pork binagoongan meal had a small bowl of noodle soup. It had somehow satisfy my noodle soup craving that day.

Here is what I had for lunch:

[Events] Greenwich Bloggers Blowout

Last Friday, June 14, 2013 Greenwich hosted a Bloggers blow-out to launch their latest pizzas. It was a night of food, raffle and fun. Greenwich launched their 2 new Pizzas & Lasagna Supreme. The two new pizzas are the Ultimate Filipino’s fave pizza the Ultimate Hawaiian Pizza & Ultimate Special Overload. Its our last stop on our first day of the DFAT (Davao Food Appreciation Tour). Whenever I thnink of having a house party or dining out with friends, I would think of having pizza, pasta n chicken. I always love the combination of pasta, pizza & chicken, its a simple yet complete meal for me.

Everyone really cant get enough of the Ultimate Hawaiian Overload, another Greenwich offering to make pizza lovers crave for more. With the Hawaiian Overload which has two kinds of cheese — Mozzarella and Cheddar, glazed pineapples, and two types of meat– ham & bacon. Crisp on the outside yet soft and chewy on the inside crust that is freshly made everyday in all Greenwich stores. The pizza innovations from Greenwich definitely satisfies Filipinos craving for an overload of Hawaiian pizza goodness. One can savor the blend of the juicy and sweet taste of glazed pineapples, and other delightful toppings of the Ultimate Hawaiian Overload.
Ultimate Hawaiian Overload

The Ultimate Special Overload has been a personal favorite of mine whenever we would order pizza on Greenwich. “It tops the list of Greenwich pizzas”, says Lulu De Castro, Greenwich Senior Marketing Manager. It has practically everything a pizza any pizza lover can ask for.” It takes one to an all-new gastronomic journey. It prides itself as the most loaded pizza in the market today, giving pizza lovers the ultimate fix that spells richness down to the last bite. It has 13 mouth-watering toppings loaded to perfection. The experience begins with slices of beef, bacon, pepperoni and salami, with sprinkles of veggies which also includes mushroom, olives, red and green bell pepper, onion and minced garlic. Filling and priced reasonably, its the ideal centerpiece in fun barkada gatherings.

Lastly, the Greenwich Lasagna Supreme is now loaded with even more mouth-watering goodness. One can hardly wait to dig in and savor this pasta perfection. This best-selling pasta now with thicker noodles, chunkier meat sauce complemented by three types of cheese and topped with rich and creamy white sauce. Served with a piece of Garlic Stix. Its one of my favorite lasagna resto,

[Food Trip] Ah Phets Noodle House & Rice Topping

Last month when I went to Cebu to attend a baptismal. Went around Cebu for some food trip with my friends, was curious about this new resto that serves good noodles and rice meals. Since our flight was delayed from Davao to Cebu, we had a late lunch at Ah Phets Noodle House, located at the Green Orkid Commercial Complex on Escario Street Cebu City.  Upon arriving from the airport we directly went there as me, my sis and my friends where all hungry then.

Here are what we had during our late lunch :

Beef Brisket Noodles (Regular) @ P95

The beef was tender and the noodles was just light, the broth is not too salty. Its my kind of beef brisket noodle.

Tender Ribs Chinese Style @ P180 (Must Try!)

The ribs was marinated well, in every bite you would love the taste of sweet and salty. though a plate is not enough for a group.

Fried Spring Chicken (half) w/ rice @ P99 (Must Try!)

I am such a chicken lover, whenever I go visit a new resto, I always make sure to taste their chicken, whether it be fried, or soy chicken or even steam chicken. This Fried Spring chicken is good, with the right spices, reminds me of the spring chicken I usually get to have whenever we visit Ongpin.

 photo 020-6_zpsc827ef6a.jpg

Ma-Ki Regular @ P85

This ma-ki mi is good, same with the ma-ki mi I get to have whenever I visit Ice Castle in Cebu. Ma-ki is a chinese style soup from pork broth in a sticky soup. Its also good if mixed with egg noodles.

Wanton Noodle Soup Regular @ P95 … The Wanton Noodle Soup was good,  🙂

As we were dining, I had a quick interview with the owner. She shared that this new resto has just opened a few months ago. They are also the same owner who owns Ice Castle, the popular Halo-halo place in Cebu. With its delicious food and affordable prices, I would recommend everyone to give this resto a try.

We tried their Sushi feast together with some new meals on the menu.  I am not much of a Japanese food fan, but the food served to us were really good.  Here are what we had during the event:

[Events] Tokyo Tokyo Opening..

Yesterday was the opening of one of the new dining place here in Davao. Tokyo Tokyo is a Japanese fast-food restaurant that has existed for 30 years. The country’s #1 Japanese fast food chain finally arrives in the VisMin Region – serving their signature dishes to Davaoeños first. As they open their first branch outside Luzon, they wanted to provide the Davaoeños a new Japanese food experience in terms of their affordable price and quality food, not to mention that they serve Unlimited Rice!  I was excited to try their meals since I don’t usually get to eat at this Japanese fast food in Manila. I would say, I like their Tempura, Beef Misono & California Maki.

Photobucket
To celebrate this milestone, Tokyo Tokyo gathered together friends from the media for an exclusive preview event of the first Tokyo Tokyo store in Davao where guests had the privilege to indulge on a wide array of Tokyo Tokyo’s best-loved dishes – Prawn Tempura, Pork Tonkatsu, Beef Misono, Chicken Teriyaki and the all time favorite Red Iced Tea.

The media guests were also treated to a California Maki-making Demo There where 2 bloggers had the chance to make their own Maki and everybody had a great time. They all agreed that the demo displayed just how much technique and mastery go into making Tokyo Tokyo’s delicious and affordable dishes.

Finally, guests were treated with Tokyo Tokyo’s most craved Sumo and Bento Meals. Aside from rice meals, Tokyo Tokyo also served their snackofferings such as Japanese burgers like the Shogun and Shitake Mushroom best paired with Nori Wasabi French Fries and Pearl Milk Teas.

[Food Trip] Yabu: House of Katsu

A few weeks back, I went to Manila again for an event. Went to SM Megamall for some window shopping together with my brother n my sis-in-law. We had our late lunch at Yabu: House of Katsu, its located at the 2nd floor Atrium in Megamall. A few months back, I had seen a friend’s picture as he was dining at this resto. I was curious about what this Japanese Restaurant’s food is about.  As we entered the resto, the ambience was good and there are lots of people dining. As I was browsing the menu, I had found out that their specialty is more of the TONKATSU, with a choice of either the Pork Loin (ROSU) or the Pork Tenderloin (HIRE). Aside from that they also offer the Katsu sets which are composed of Jumbo Prawn, Dory Fish, Salmon & Jumbo Oyster. I ordered the Tonkatsu meal which is composed of a piece of Rosu, unlimited Japanese Rice, Miso Soup, Cabbage unlimited w/ japanese dressing & a cup of Fresh fruits. Here are what the 3 of us ordered for our late Lunch:

Photobucket Photobucket

A set of the Rosu Meal, A set of Tonkatsu Meal and a set of the Curry Tonkatsu meal. My favorite meal is the Curry Meal since I love the spicy sauce that comes with the katsu and rice. It comes with the sauces on top picture the black pepper n sesame seeds which are to be grind plus a sauce (not in the picture) will be mixed for the Rosu Tonkatsu. While the picture on the bottom is the sauce for the cabbage. I would say that I had enjoyed a sumptuos lunch at Yabu although I find their meals quite pricey. But will definitely comeback to try their Seafood Tonkatsus on my next Manila visit. They also offer kiddie meals.

RATING: 4/5
Budget: around 300-500 per person. U can also share since the servings are quite big 🙂

[Food Trip] Tiny Kitchen

Image

Been attempting to dine on Tiny Kitchen a few times before they had transferred to their new location along Torres st. To no avail, it was always full. So one time me and my family decided to have an early dinner and decided to give it another try. We went their early, we got a table for the 6 of us.

They have transferred to a little more bigger place beside the resto Ronaldo’s. The place was cozy, their menu was written on a blackboard, you’ll just have to ask them to translate their spanish named dishes.

Since I’ve heard that their specialty is Paella, we ordered a small size seafood paella to just try it, it was really good with lotsa seafood. A friend recommended to try their Rosemary chicken, we also did order, and 2 beef dishes which were Mechado and Caldereta and a pasta dish which was with Chorizo something.. forgot the exact name.I love the Calderata with its juicy meat and the yummy sauce, it makes you want to eat more rice with it. Both the

mechado and Caldereta was good

ImageRosemary Chicken

They have big servings..one order is good for 2 persons. Since the 5 of us are first timers in dining at Tiny Kitchen, we were very satisfied with the food, the paella was quite pricey but it was good. We also tried their selection of desserts, we had a slice of Frozen Mango Brazo, n 2 different chocolate cakes with mousse in it..forgot the names since its was my siblings who had ordered them. Though I’m not much of a Spanish food lover, but the food served where enough to convince me to come back to try more of their dishes. I would say I am very satisfied… 🙂
